Coachella 2005

Here's the cover for Cat Power's Speaking For Trees:

DVD release of experimental film by Mark Borthwick
Experimental filmmaker, photographer and visual artist Mark Borthwick has completed an elaborate package including a nearly 2-hour-long film of Cat Power playing solo outdoors in the countryside. Shot from a great distance in gloriously grainy color, and recorded with all the ambient sounds of nature, this film in the tradition of Warhol and Wiseman is a fascinating document.
The DVD also includes 3 nature films set to music from 'You Are Free', and a CD including a single 18-minute long unreleased song saga entitled "Willie Deadwilder," an outtake from the 'You Are Free' recording sessions.
In a slipcase with foldout digipak and 64-page perfect-bound book created and illustrated by Mark Borthwick. Scheduled for October 26 release date.

I love it when you get officially well-informed:

Various Artists -- Matador At Fifteen double CD + DVD
OLE-623
October 12, 2004

Matador's fifteenth-anniversary compilation consists of one CD of "greatest hits", one CD of rarities and unreleased tracks, and a DVD of music videos, all roughly from the period 1999-2004.

The three discs come housed in an exquisite embossed laminated fold-out laminated digipak which is to the word LOUD as our tenth anniversary package was to the word MUTED. Additionally there is a 20-page booklet recounting many of the highlights of the past five years via original documents.

The price will be the same as a single regular full-price CD -- what we in the record world call "15.98 list", which means anywhere from 11.99 to 14.99 for you indie shoppers, and as much as 17.98 for those few who still patronize the mall outlets of the dwindling major music specialty chains. Assuming there are any in stock there, which is mostly fairly unlikely.

May 19, 2003 - Rome, Italy

A new Cat Power album is tentatively planned for 2005. In the meantime, you'll be able to get the DVD film by Mark Borthwick, which includes a CD with a gorgeous 18-minute long unreleased song from the 'You Are Free' sessions. The song is entitled 'Willie Deadwilder', and the DVD+CD package is scheduled to come out on October 26", said Patrick from Matador Records.

To get to him, these news about the new album probably came from Chan Marshall herself, and for what I know she's not the most reliable person in that matter. I don't know about you, but I'll just wait, plus the DVD+CD is quite enough for me for another year.
*rub hands*
From now on, everytime I got big news from Cat Power I'll post hard-to-find images.

At Fifteen
And you thought we were gonna let Merge hog all the 15th Anniversary action, weren't you? No such luck. Coming in November, we'll be dropping a triple disc (two CD's + DVD) compilation on your skulls for a budget price commemorating the birth, afterbirth and long, long life of the premier rock label of the modern age, Matador Records. Along with previously released faves from Mogwai, Interpol, Preston School of Industry, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Yo La Tengo, Mission Of Burma, Belle & Sebastian, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, Cat Power and more, we'll have a full CD of rarities and/or new bits, plus a full DVD's worth of expensive music videos we wish we spent less money on. But that's not your problem. As always, our the folly of our largess is your reward (and that's not meant to be a double entendre of any sort).

Old template back. *phew* *smiley*
Further settings later.

Björk's Medulla's been released, y'know?

Those Weezer guys threw away all they'd done for the new album, and got started from scratch.

A documentary DVD will be relased containing the recording process of Nirvana's Nevermind.

White Stripes might end. It's probably Jack getting tired of Meg's childlike drum banging, or both of them from the rumors of what's the nature of their relationship.
