And also, Guided by Voices call it quits. It's not a band I know well, it's just they had such long life.
Since I'm numb from getting those tickets, all I could hear of was this bootleg from the 1st Pixies comeback gig.

11 April 2004

From a message I received 2 weeks ago but read just now:

This week sees the release of Jane Birkin's new album 'Rendez-Vous' carrying a track written especially for her by Beth Gibbons and featuring Beth on backing vocals. Jane is of course widely known as an accomplished actress and unforgettably as Serge Gainsbourg's wife and muse and the track 'Strange Melody' is a fantastic meeting of two very extraordinary women.

After checking the site, where samples for all Birkin's albums are available, I saw there are special guests in all 'Rendez-Vous' songs. There's Brian Ferry, Brian Molko, Manu Chau, Caetano Veloso (singing a classic) and other less pop names. Beth's part I heard was a recognizable haunting 'howl', while Birkin's in charge of words.

2 new (smog) videos from Supper album: "Morality" and "Truth Serum". If u go check 'em out, names have been traded, but that u can notice by listening to the lyrics in case u don't already know them.

I got that info from Pitchfork.
Bunch of nice things. To whoever can't speak French (such as myself) there are pics of many artists. I loved Patti Smith's.
More Cat Power pics from the Paris gig. These are by Nicolas Cuissard.

Cat Power pics from the last Paris gig, on March 25th, 2004 at Café De La Danse.
This is to a girl I know who is/was very into Janis Joplin.

There's a movie, "Piece Of My Heart", in pre-production about the life singer's life, and Renee Zellwegger got the lead role. The writer for the story was hired a few weeks ago.
Yesterday, some (below) average producer said singer Pink will play the exact same role in "The Gospel According to Janis". Screenplay and direction are also already on it and everything's in high spedd so it can be in production before "Piece Of My Heart". Two words: low blow!

I'm guessing the only thing Pink would do better than Zellwegger would be the live-singing. I actually like (not enjoy, or adore, or love or anything more intense than average like) Pink's voice, but since I don't have to listen to most of her songs. She's one of the most amusing characters in showbiz, just check her videos, that Pepsi ad (w/ Beyoncé Knowles and Britney Spears, for crying out loud!) and, in the near future, "The Gospel According to Janis". Try stand-up comedy, darling!
